Vampires

Vampires... Who are they? Do they really exist? What to do if you meet one of them?

Vampires are considered to be creatures of folklore and mythology. But some people really believe in their existence and maybe they are right. Vampires are creatures that live by feeding on the blood of people and animals. There are animals that live by drinking blood of other animals and sometimes even people. So if such animals exist maybe vampires-people exist too.

There are a lot of legends and stories that tell us about vampires and their abilities. Usually they are pictured as people who have supernatural power and sharp teeth with big canines that help them to drink blood.

In fact vampires are dead people who returned to live thanks to another vampire. According to legends all vampires are afraid of light of the sun that is why they sleep during the whole day and come out from their houses only at night.

Usually vampires are very pale, as they are dead. According to beliefs of some nations they have no reflection in the mirror and have the ability to change the form. They may turn into a bat. Besides they have long hair, nails and teeth. And even if vampire cuts his/her nails or hair, it will take the usual view in spite of all. Vampires don't get old and have the same appearance during all their lives.

There are several ways to kill vampires and every nation has its own ways to do that. But there are several similar ways. First of all vampires may die if the sun light gets on their body. It burns them. Vampires can't stand everything that is somehow connected with Church and religions. Crucifixions, holy water and the images of Saints may kill vampires. But the best way to kill a vampire is to drive in the stake. Then you may be sure it won't trouble you again.

There are also a lot of other beliefs that tell us that vampires can't enter the house without being invited. According to another belief vampires sleep in their coffins, etc.

But in Ancient Times there was no term "vampire". Demons, spirits were drinking blood or eating flesh. But there were creatures that lived feeding in such way in all cultures of the world. They were simply called differently.
